Equinosis and Vetel Diagnostics partner to offer non-invasive technology to quantify equine lameness

San Luis Obispo, California – Vetel Diagnostics and the Vetel Group of Companies maintain their efforts in these times to provide equine veterinarians with advanced tools for equine wellness. This spring they are doing so by partnering with Equinosis, providers of the Equinosis Q with Lameness Locator® (The “Q”).

Vetel is no stranger to technological advancement and innovation. Already offering customers the highest quality HD wireless digital radiography systems with the first artificial intelligence software on the market, Vetel’s business partnerships contribute to its mission to harness the digital world for the veterinary practitioner.

The “Q” is a biomechanical care platform with a real-time, handheld, field-based system that enables a veterinarian to objectively measure lameness in horses with non-invasive inertial sensors. The “Q” quantifies asymmetry in the equine gait with higher sensitivity than the human eye, leading to earlier identification and intervention. It is a medical diagnostic sold only to veterinarians, intended for use in conjunction with a hands-on evaluation.

“Q” technology was developed by equine veterinarians and engineers using motion analysis algorithms and is the gold standard for field-based measurement of lameness. It enables a repeatable and objective measurement of asymmetry related to pain.

Vetel looks forward to working with Equinosis and providing more equine practitioners this progressive tool of measuring lameness. President of Vetel Dr. James Waldsmith offered his thoughts; “The combination of the inertial motion-sensing hardware, analytical software and the vast amount of peer-reviewed science behind the Equinosis Q make it “must-have” technology for the equine practitioner of today and the future. The “Q” is one more example of Vetel’s commitment to bring higher levels of objectivity, precision, and efficiency to daily equine practice. We feel most fortunate to have relationships with companies of such accomplishment and expertise as Equinosis”.

Sharing similar roots as companies created by practicing equine veterinarians, Equinosis CEO Andy Wolter added, “We appreciate Vetel’s shared commitment to equine veterinarians and Dr. Waldsmith’s vision and leadership in the industry. We hope this partnership will accelerate the improvement of lameness care with objective measurement.”
