Ultrasonix Medical Corporation and Vetel Diagnostics are partnering to introduce an affordable new veterinary ultrasound using parallel channel processing technology and unique needle guidance capabilities.

The SonixTablet Vet utilizes a new method of beam forming that is not only faster and more efficient but also preserves the raw image for multiple reprocessing. The result is superior images produced ten times faster than with traditional ultrasound firmware. The SonixTablet Vet also features SonixGPS, a unique needle guidance system that allows the practitioner to maintain the transducers position on the target while clearly seeing a needle approach from a variety of positions either in or out of plane. Visualizing the true path of the needle in real time without repositioning the transducer enables clinicians the best view of the target while directing a needle trajectory that is safest and most comfortable for the patient.

The combination of better imaging and precision guidance promises to improve diagnostics and shorten the learning curve making difficult procedures such as needle aspirations and Stem Cell injections accessible to a new generation of veterinary practitioners.

“We demonstrated the SonixTablet Vet with SonixGPS at the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) conference held in San Antonio last month and it was the buzz of the show,” said Dr. Jim Waldsmith, President of Vetel Diagnostics. Waldsmith says the appeal to his veterinary colleagues is easy to understand. “With the growth of regenerative medicine in veterinary practice, and the requirement for precise delivery to the tissue target, this technology brings the practitioner a level of accuracy and confidence never seen before.  SonixGPS makes injection procedures substantially easier to perform”, “it’s the sort of technology that immediately expands diagnostic and treatment options for the veterinarian.  We are very excited about adding Ultrasonix systems to our ultrasound line.”

John Nichols, Ultrasonix Manager of Guidance Technology Validation and North American Veterinary Sales, attended the AAEP conference with Vetel and demonstrated the SonixTabletVet with SonixGPS. The response from veterinary practitioners was very enthusiastic.  "SonixGPS was the buzz of the show," John reported. "Visitors reported being excited to see new technology that would make expensive procedures more effective."

Ultrasonix parallel channel processing technology, combined with the functionality of a true guidance positioning system is the first to be made available to the veterinary market and aligns perfectly with Vetel’s commitment to increasing the veterinarian’s diagnostic capabilities through innovative imaging solutions. “I demonstrated the SonixGPS on a horse and Dr. Waldsmith immediately saw its relevance to today’s veterinary practitioner”, said Nichols. “We are very excited to have Vetel as our distributor for the Veterinary market”.
